Shared Tonalities
My work moves between painting, illustration, and poetry. Raised by a German father and a Colombian mother, I grew up between Berlin and New York, surrounded by art from a young age. What drew me in was the idea that the more boundaries are pushed, the more there is to discover, both as an artist and as a viewer. I started painting almost three years ago, during my final year at university in Scotland. Since then, my practice has become an exploration of everything I struggle to contain internally. Rarely do I begin with a fixed idea of what a work will become; instead, pieces evolve over months through layering, erasure, and repainting. Deeply subconscious and introspective, the process shifts as my emotions do: colours, textures, and figures emerging and changing with them. My paintings feel like snapshots of time, versions of myself I breathe through and from.
